Welcome to Dudley SOUP
A community based crowdfunding dinner supporting inspiring projects from the Dudley Borough organised by local residents.
So what is SOUP?
SOUP’s aim is to give residents the opportunity to learn about projects happening in the borough and gives them the chance to vote on the project they think will benefit the community the most. SOUP gives local groups and small enterprises the opportunity pitch for funding, to share their project ideas and to network with like-minded people.
Why are you doing it?
SOUP brings together people from across our diverse Black Country community and gives them the chance to meet people, gain knowledge and make connections in a safe, fun environment. SOUP acts as a platform to share resources and support projects that benefit the community.
You mentioned dinner:
SOUP features 4 projects who get 4 minutes to pitch their idea, and then take 4 questions from the audience about their project. Everyone then sits down to some tasty soup and to discuss which project they might vote for.
Tell me about crowdfunding:
Crowdfunding is a form of alternative finance, which has emerged outside of the traditional financial system. The suggested donation when you arrive at SOUP is £5 but we’d like you to feel free to give what you can afford. Once all the diners have cast their vote, the winner is announced and they are awarded the money that was taken on the door to help get their project off the ground or take it to the next level.
Who are you?
Dudley SOUP is made up of a group of local volunteers who are trying to make positive change for their local community. The group are a mixed bunch with backgrounds in social enterprise, management, the arts, outreach, project management…you name it and we’ve probably got it covered!
I’d love to attend – how do I find out more?
The next Dudley SOUP will be on Thursday 21st September. You can register to attend via Eventbrite and it’s free to register but we need you to do so as it gives us an idea of how many people will be coming as we have limited space in our venue. You can also head over to our Twitter and Facebook pages where we will post regular updates on what’s happening at SOUP HQ.
I’ve got a great idea that will benefit my community – how do I get to pitch?
You can apply right here on our website and if you have any question please contact:-
